Thomas
Gentner has practiced law with Rollins, Smalkin, Richards & Mackie,
L.L.C. since 1970. As a tenured litigator, Mr. Gentner handles a wide
variety of large loss cases, with a focus on transportation.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Gentner served in U.S. Army as an Artillery
Commander at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He also served as a Special Courts
Defense Trial Counsel, and a member of the Trial Board of Officers.
Mr. Gentner worked for Allstate Insurance company for seven and a half
years. After rising through the ranks, he completed his tenure with Allstate
after becoming the youngest District Claim Manager in the company.
After joining RSR&M, Mr. Gentner taught "Business and Tort Law" at
the Catonsville Community College for seven years. He is a member
of the American Bar Association and its Litigation and Law Practice
Management Sections.
Mr. Gentner is a member of the American Bar
Association, Inc., Maryland State Bar Association, Inc., the International
Association of Defense Counsel, and the Defense Research Institute.
An active member of his community, Mr. Gentner coached youth basketball,
softball and baseball for twenty–five years in the Catonsville
Recreational Council, Catholic Youth Organization, and Baltimore
Neighborhood Basketball leagues. He also officiated in the Free State
Swim League for five years. A lifelong athlete, Mr. Gentner enjoys
running and is an avid golfer.
He is a past member of the Westowne Community Association, and served
as a Parish–Council Member at the St. Mark Church in Catonsville, Maryland
for three years. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Archbishop Keough
High School, Mr. Gentner was active in the merger of the Archbishop Keough
and Seton High Schools, forming The Seton–Keough High School
in Baltimore, Maryland.
